Bramble
Today, Bramble is a robust 15 pound tortoise shell cat. When she was
less than 6 months old, her human, Joan, called to say that she was having
symptoms of unremitting diarrhea with mucus in the stool and loss of appetite.
She was taken to a western vet who did a stool culture and blood work.
She was diagnosed with cryptosporidian.
The vet told Joan that her chances of survival were not good because
of her age. Because of the serious nature of her illness, I called the
Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab in North Carolina to get some advice. They
suggested I talk to an equine vet in Virginia who was an expert on this
parasitic infection. Interestingly enough, the vet said the best chance
to save Bramble was to treat her homeopathically. Naturally I was surprised
and delighted to hear this.
The first remedy was a low potency remedy to be given daily until the
diarrhea stopped. It worked well and the second prescription was given
to get this kitten’s appetite back and then her vitality. This in
combination with a few sessions of acupuncture and one Chinese herbal
formula probably saved Bramble’s life. To this day, Bramble recognizes
me when I’m around her.
